The process of packing saffron is particularly challenging due to its delicate nature and high value, requiring meticulous handling to preserve its quality and ensure accuracy in measurement.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Setup and Operations:
   

   • Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of spice processing line.
   • Supervise packing of saffron into various packaging formats with precision.
   • Operate and maintain packing machinery, including weighing, sealing, and labeling equipment.

2. Quality Control:
   

   • Inspect and verify the quality of saffron and sumac before packaging.
   • Ensure packaging is free from defects and seals are intact.

3. Inventory Management:
   

   • Monitor stock levels of saffron, and packaging materials.
   • Coordinate with the warehouse team for timely replenishment of supplies.

4. Safety and Compliance:
   

   • Follow health and safety regulations in the packing area.
   • Ensure compliance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations.

5. Process Improvement:
   

   • Identify and implement improvements in packing efficiency and accuracy.
   • Minimize waste and enhance productivity.

6. Record Keeping:
   

   • Maintain accurate records of packing activities, including batch numbers and quantities packed.
   • Report any issues or discrepancies to the production supervisor.

7. Team Collaboration:
   

   • Work with other packing staff and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
   • Participate in training and contribute to team meetings.

8. Product Knowledge:
   

   • Understand saffron and sumac handling requirements and quality characteristics.
   • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in spice packaging.

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. Education:
   

   • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Business Administration, or a related field.

2. Experience:
   

   • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food processing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
   • Proven track record of setting up and managing processing plants, preferably in the spice or food industry.

3. Skills:
   

   • Strong knowledge of saffron processing techniques and quality control procedures.
   • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
   • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with inventory management software.
   • Fluency in Persian (Farsi) and English, with a deep understanding of the saffron industry in Iran.
